Hashmonah. This is possibly the Heshmon of , since this was one of the "uttermost cities … toward the coast of Edom, southward." The name, however ("fruitfulness"), was probably common on the edge of the desert.

Moseroth. This is simply the plural form of Moserah ("chastisement"), and is no doubt the place so called in (see note at end of chapter).
