"Command them... to be rich in good deeds... In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age." (1 Timothy 6:18-19) Imagine you are moving to a new country (let's say, from the USA to the UK).
You have a million dollars in US currency. But in the UK, they don't accept dollars. They only accept Pounds. If you keep all your money in dollars until you get on the plane, you will arrive in the UK penniless.
Your money will be worthless paper. A wise person goes to the Currency Exchange before the trip. They transfer their wealth into the currency of the country they are going to. This is the logic of Eternal Investment .
You are moving. You cannot stay on Earth. As the old saying goes about a rich man who died: "How much did he leave behind? Everything." You cannot take it with you, but you can send it ahead of you. Every time you give to the poor, or support the Gospel, you are doing a "Wire Transfer" to Heaven.
You are converting temporary currency (money) into eternal currency (souls and rewards). Why would you stockpile money here, where it will rot, and have zero balance there, where you will live forever?
Digging Deeper
This is The Treasure Principle (Matthew 6:19-21). "Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth... but store up for yourselves treasures in heaven." Jesus is not against investment; He is just against bad investment.
Earth is a bad investment. It has high inflation (moth and rust) and high risk (thieves). Heaven is a 100% secure, high-yield investment. Jim Elliot famously said: "He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain what he cannot lose."
Reflect on this: If you died today and checked your "Heavenly Bank Account," what would be in it? Have you sent anything ahead? Or is all your treasure stuck in the currency of a dying world? 👣 Take a Step Action: The Eternal Investment.
Find a cause that has eternal value (evangelism, Bible translation, feeding the hungry in Jesus' name). Make an investment today. Smile as you do it, knowing you just moved your assets to a safer bank.
