Anchor Scripture “For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.” — Introduction Excellency means surpassing greatness or superiority .

When we speak about the excellency of the gospel , we mean that the message of Jesus Christ is higher, greater, and more powerful than every other path people claim can lead to God . The gospel is the good news that God has provided salvation for sinful humanity through Jesus Christ.

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel… that Christ died for our sins… that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day.” — –4 At the center of the gospel is Jesus Christ , the Son of God who came into the world to save sinners.

“The Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us.” — Our anchor scripture tells us that the knowledge of God’s glory is revealed in the face of Jesus Christ . This is why the gospel excels above every other way.

1. The Gospel Excels Because It Reveals God Clearly Human religions attempt to search for God, but the gospel shows us God revealed in Jesus Christ . “No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son… he hath declared him.

” — When we look at Christ, we see the character and glory of God . “He that hath seen me hath seen the Father.” — This fulfills our anchor scripture: the knowledge of God’s glory shines in the face of Jesus Christ .

2. The Gospel Excels Because It Solves the Problem of Sin The Bible explains that humanity’s greatest problem is sin . “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” — Sin separates humanity from God.

“But your iniquities have separated between you and your God.” — The gospel provides the only true solution: Jesus died as a substitute for sinners . “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

” — Through His death and resurrection, forgiveness and reconciliation with God become possible. 3. The Gospel Excels Because It Transforms the Human Heart Religion can regulate behavior, but the gospel changes the heart .

“A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you.” — When someone believes in Christ, God begins a work of transformation. “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature.

” — God shines spiritual light into the heart, just as our anchor scripture declares. “For God… hath shined in our hearts.” — 4. The Gospel Excels Because Jesus Is the Only Savior Jesus did not only die; He rose from the dead .

“He is not here: for he is risen.” — Because He lives, He alone has the power to save. “Neither is there salvation in any other.” — Jesus Himself declared the uniqueness of this path.

“I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” — Conclusion The excellency of the gospel is seen in this: It reveals God , It solves the problem of sin , It transforms the heart , And it leads humanity to the only Savior, Jesus Christ .

God shines the light of His glory in the face of Jesus Christ — . The call is therefore simple: turn to Christ, believe the gospel, and receive the life God offers. Prayer Points (With Scriptures) 1.
